Women’s Rights Abuses: a Traumatic World Issue

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

The inequitable treatment of women throughout the world’s societies is well known. In most societies around the world violence and abuse of women and girls is endemic. One third of all women will be raped, beaten, or violated. We have seen heart-wrenching examples of widespread rape in war of women and children. It’s happening right now as you read this post. This is the brutal feature of conflicts throughout the world.

We all must support programs that bring help and rescue services to victims of violence. We must bring awareness about their treatment, and support their human and civil rights.  We must advocate for an end to all forms of violence and heal the terrible traumas.

In addition to this global violence, women have little economic power in the world. They directly  influence less than 2 percent of the world’s assets, even though they perform nearly 3 /4  of the worlds work and produce more than 1 /2 of the world’s food.

When women are able to influence finances, their families live better, move out of the severe poverty that they have been in and the children become more educated. The education of women and girls has been shown to be the single most effective way for economies to succeed, for health and nutrition and community to prosper.

Join us as we explore ways to help in this cause. We will discuss and then come to some practical solutions that can effect this issue. On May 20th, we will walk and talk on the rail trail in Carmel, NY and proceed to a potluck lunch and create a plan of practical activism.

Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Helping Veterans with PTSD

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Our soldiers and  military personnel have returned from conflicts throughout the world and often suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. These include veterans from WWII, Korea, Iraq, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and other combat zones.

Many of these veterans and their families have suffered the consequences of post trauma experiencing difficulty coping with life’s routine challenges and coping with not so routine emotional difficulties.

Many veterans and the spouses and families of veterans have attempted to medicate with alcohol and drugs. This layers addictions onto the many other problems experienced such as: depression, insomnia, flashbacks, anxiety, anger management problems, verbal and physical abuses, guilt, joblessness, relationship problems and more.

We at Putnam Healing Arts would like to be part of the solution. We would like to help to heal this pain. We offer Veterans and their families very low-cost sessions using the latest tools of Energy Psychology. Many coaches, practitioners, professionals, and therapist use these techniques to overcome traumas and PTSD with a minimum amount of discomfort. EFT, the most widely used of these therapies has been shown to be remarkably effective for these conditions, based on the results of studies done in VA hospital and in private sessions all over the world.
