Further evidence of dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup:
CBC news reported March 30th on the latest research on the dangerous effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) in the body and specifically on the liver. Link: http://www.cbc.ca/video/player.html?category=News&clipid=1444422465
Based on a study by Duke University Medical Center, people’s high consumption of the controversial sugar substitute High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is associated with liver scarring or fibrosis, similar to the cirrhosis damage caused by heavy consumption of alcohol. Children are seen now with liver damage that was more often seen in the past, in people who were heavy drinkers of alcohol.
There is no present medical therapy for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD or cirrhosis. Health officials have previously targeted high fructose corn syrup as a potential cause of the growing rate of obesity, and the alarming increase of Type II Diabetes throughout the population. This recent study highlights more dangers of this ubiquitous toxin.
In response to recent criticism of the sweetener and in flagrant lack of concern for the truth, the High Fructose Corn Syrup industry has recently begun an advertising campaign touting the merits and safety of the syrup. So read all the labels on your food and avoid products with High Fructose Corn Syrup. If you are addicted to the stuff, get help but get off it! Your life, your children’s lives may depend on it!
Thanks to Cheryl Richardson for this Week’s:
Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill (more info at www.dannymacaskill.com) features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There’s some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike.
