Singing Circle

Singing Circle

The singing circle is a tradition in many cultures dating back to prehistoric times. It was a way to come together in community, to take part in ceremony often entrancing the participants in a shared meditative, calming state. Singing was a way to express grief with or for the group such as in “keening” at a trauma, a death, or a funeral ceremony. Singing was also a non literate way to pass down history over generations or from one observer of an event to another who was not there. Singing can be an empowering action giving the singer a “voice.”

Whether you believe you have a “good voice” or feel like you “can’t carry a tune,” Singing Circles are often a healing experience. They can also be creative.
