Drumming Circle

Drumming-It’s rhythmic- it’s healing- and it’s fun!

We are all vibrational beings and every part of the body has a frequency. Just as each of us is unique in our fingerprints and in our DNA, we also have our own distinct patterns and collections of tones.

Each body part and organ is radiating sound waves. Every cell has it’s own vibratory frequency, and every cell within a specific organ system has a common vibratory resonance. Any deviation from this harmony results in difficulty – lack of ease in the system, dis-ease.

Vibrations in the higher frequencies tend to make us more alert. Vibrations in the lower frequencies like in deep chanting of monks or in shamanic drumming, effect the more primitive part of the brain, and can create a hypnotic state.

There is also a quality called entrainment. The powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object will cause a less powerful rhythmic vibrating object to lock into the vibration of the dominant object.

For example: When individual pulsing heart muscle cells are brought close together, they begin to beat in sync with each other. Also, when you strike a tuning fork that vibrates at 100 cycles per sec, and bring it up to another un-struck tuning fork of the same frequency, the un-struck fork will start vibrating without being struck. Then both objects are in resonance with one another.

External rhythms can also be used to affect the rhythm of the heart, as well as the respirations, the brainwaves, all types of tissue, and living plants and bodies. The same is true of nonanimate objects as well. This is evidenced by glass shattering when a certain note is sustained, or kidney and gall stones being shattered by sound waves; and houseplants growing more healthy and strong with music and rhythm being played alongside them or in their location.

Deep bass sounds and deep drum rhythms speak to the primitive and common ancient memory in all of us. We are drawn to rhythm. We seek rhythm in everything, from the leaky faucet, to the click-clack of the train wheels, from the plunk and tip of raindrops, to the gritty sloshing of an easy surf.

Our hearts that conduct our body’s symphony, can likewise entrain to the powerful rhythm of the drums in a drumming circle. All hearts can entrain together, all brainwaves can entrain to a similar wave when we feel safe to allow ourselves to soar, inside ourselves and out into the universal consciousness.

We can feel safe doing this in a drum circle because we can recognize any deviation in a heartbeat. In this safe constant rhythm, we may sense inside ourselves also, whether there are any deviations in our internal symphony. By becoming aware of a discordant rhythm, we may be able to correct imbalances and restore equilibrium. In this way we may heal our cells, our thoughts, our emotions, and our health.

So check the schedule often. Join us in a drumming circle.  It’s rhythmic- it’s healing- and it’s fun!
